Private Ninh Binh Day Trip From Hanoi

Ninh Binh is the capital city of Ninh Binh Province in North Vietnam, famous for the nearby Karst scenery around the village of Tam Coc. There is nothing to do in Ninh Binh itself aside from drinking beer with the locals; the town is more useful as a base for the surrounding countryside.

Private Ninh Binh Day Trip From Hanoi via Vietnam Backpackers Hostel

Today you will experience the ancient culture and history of Vietnam as well seeing the stunning landscape and beautiful scenery when we travel to the Ninh Binh Province. This area is known as “Halong Bay on land” and is located 80 km South of Hanoi.

We will go for a relaxing sampan ride through the gentle and elegant landscape of plains and mountains leading to the beautiful and mysterious Tam Coc Grottoes followed boat ride to Bich Dong Cave and Pagoda. Bich Dong pagoda was built by the collective and missionary works of 2 Buddhist monks: Tri Kien and Tri The. All three pagodas of Bich Dong have wooden architecture due to the architectural style of the time at the end of Le Dynasty and in the beginning of Nguyen Dynasty. They were arranged according to ascending order on the position of Bich Dong Mountain like a Chinese letter: “Tam”. Ha Pagoda (Lower Pagoda) is located at the foot of the mountain, Trung Pagoda (Middle Pagoda) is on a mountainside and Thuong pagoda (Upper Pagoda) is situated on top of the mountain. All 3 pagodas’ s backs lean against the mountain.

This journey takes you through breath taking scenery of rice fields and imposing mountains. We will have lunch in the local restaurant.

Then we’ll visit Thai Vy Temple and Hoa Lu, formally the capital of the Dinh and early Le dynasties between the 10th and 11th centuries.

Thai Vi Temple is located in Van Lam village, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. It is home to worship first Kings of the Tran Dynasty, namely King Tran Thai Tong, King Tran Thanh Tong, King Tran Nhan Tong, King Tran Anh Tong along with Generals such as Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quang Khai and Queen Thuan Thien. Thai Vi Temple is situated inside Tam Coc – Bich Dong tourist complex. Here, tourists will have a chance to recall memories of a glorious reign in the nation’s history – Tran Dynasty, admire special features of folklore and unique art in the style of temple architecture.
Hoa Lu, the capital of Dai Co Viet (an old name of Vietnam) under the Dinh and Le dynasties bears with it a legend. Being the capital of the first fundamental Government of Vietnam, Hoa Lu witnessed many important historical events: the union of Vietnam after “12 Lords Rebellion”, the war with the Song dynasty, the defense against the ancient Cambodian, and the formation of Hanoi nowadays. With the total size of 13.87 square kilometers, Hoa Lu old capital is an attractive place that history lovers should not miss out.
